Some have asked questions about Old English Pocket Beagles so I outlined a couple of the highlights, but if you would like more info just let me know...
- Old English Pocket Beagles are a smaller variety of traditional Beagles which were common in England and used for hunting in the xxxx's. Due to difficult terrain these smaller beagles were used and put in the pockets of the horse's saddlebags (that's where the name Pocket Beagle came from)
As time went on the larger faster beagles became more popular and the smaller Pocket Beagles became endangered.
- Old English Pocket Beagles are not the same as Miniature Beagles, Teacup Beagles, or Queen Elizabeth Beagles which are bred with smaller breeds (such as dachshunds or chihuahuas to keep the size down
- Pocket Beagles tend to have milder "beagle traits" than the larger Beagles
